Africa Division

The Africa Division of The Étoile Foundation is the most significant, led by Co-Founder Anaïs Chambrier, along with local ambassadors in Abidjan. The team make notable progress in advancing menstrual health education and empowering young women in Côte d’Ivoire. Under Anaïs's direction, the division focus on organising educational workshops, fostering local partnerships, and driving sustainability.

August 2024 Workshop

This half-day event on the 3rd of August at La Maison By Genesis in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire welcomed 20 young girls and set the stage for transformative discussions. The workshop began with an introduction by Co-Founder Anaïs Chambrier and the Foundation’s local ambassadors, followed by a valuable session led by Anaïs Dagrou from Mouvement Femmes & Paroles. Anaïs Dagrou shared practical advice on menstrual hygiene management, promoting health and well-being. Anaïs Dagrou is the Founder and President of MFP as well as a gender specialist for various companies. MFP works to improve the African education system, focusing on the liberalisation of women.

The day continued with a presentation from David Yeboua from Yerhe CI, a reusable period pad company made in Côte d’Ivoire, for speaking to our girls about the importance of reusable period pads for sustainability. Yerhe CI is a brand dedicated to manufacturing reusable period underwear, offering practical and sustainable solutions for African women, whilst actively contributing to waste reduction and environmental protection.

The workshop also included activities and games that encouraged open dialogue and strengthened community bonds. This approach aligns with our mission to create safe, inclusive spaces where young women can share their experiences and concerns about menstrual health.

Each attendee was gifted an Étoile tote bag full of beauty products, an Étoile notebook for upcoming educational workshops, an Étoile t-shirt and badge, and reusable pads thanks to Yerhe CI.

The support of local sponsors, such as Genesis Luxury & Brands, Yerhe CI, and Mouvement Femmes & Paroles were instrumental in making the event a success. Their partnership helped us extend our reach and ensure that we could continue to provide impactful programs.

December 2023 Meeting

In December 2023, Anaïs Chambrier hosted a meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire where she invited our carefully selected local Étoile ambassadors, where the ambassadors spoke about our mission, and the next steps in supporting Étoile.

Not only are we educating young girls experiencing period poverty, we are also empowering young African leaders. It is important for us to connect our students to accessible and relatable mentors and teachers. Meet our local teachers, meet our community leaders, meet the future of Africa.
